Between 20 and 23 November, the first meeting for the EU-funded BUDS (Building Up Digital Strategists) project took place at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Participants from the five partner universities (Rome Tor Vergata University, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, University of Eastern Finland, University Nova de Lisboa and University of Antwerp) met to lay the basis of the new alliance focused on innovative ways to strengthen knowledge in digital topics and employability in the fast changing labour market.
The first session started on 20 November with the teaching staff involved in a 3-day meeting on “Contents development and methodology sharing” whose strategic focus was on Digital Education, Quality assurance in Blended Education as well as Educational video creation and Intellectual property rights.
Among the participants to the short-term joint staff training event:
- Prof. Corrado Cerruti – BUDS Project coordinator and MSc Business Administration Director (University of Rome Tor Vergata);
- Luc Van de Poele – Head of the Department of Education (University of Antwerp)
- Carlos Delgado Kloos – Vice President for Strategy and Digital Education (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid)
- Juho Pesonen – Head of Research (eTourism) at the Centre for Tourism Studies (University of Eastern Finland)
- Carlos Alario – Deputy Vice President for Strategy and Digital Education (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid)
- Tim Huygh – Research Associate at Department of Management Information Systems (University of Antwerp)
- Mauro Castelli – Assistant Professor at Information Management School (Universidade Nova de Lisboa).
The video creation training was supported by Raul Aguilera – Unit for Educational Technologies and Teaching Innovation together with Jesus Gamo and Jorge Diaz – Audiovisual Team, Unit for Educational Technologies and Teaching Innovation (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid).
Several professors as well as PhD students from the partner universities took part in the event.
A parallel session dedicated to the administrative staff involved in the project was held on 21-22 November. After a general overview of the project, key aspects related to project funding and reporting activities as well as intensive training programme planning have been discussed. The meeting ended with the visit to Villa Mondragone, the location where the intensive training programme will take place.
